Current/Elliott Flat Pocket Cargo in Washed Black

Posted on March 7, 2014

When the skinny cargo craze started in Spring of 2010, I was hooked.  I wanted to own every pair in every color.  When I recently saw this particular pair, it brought back such fond memories of that unforgettable trend.  These are Current/Elliott The Flat Pocket Cargo Skinnies.

Anytime I find a pair of Current/Elliott pants that catch my eye, I already know they’re going to fit well.  That’s just how it is for me with Current/Elliott.  Their styles are almost always so flattering and comfortable.  So it was no surprise to me that I loved the fit on these.  They remind me quite a bit of their cargo skinnies that we reviewed a while back (see here).  The difference with these, however, is that the material is much lighter in weight.  And living in Southern California, light weight pants/denim can take me a long way.

The front has side slant pockets, almost like trousers.  Pockets like these on skinny pants are a little tricky. They tend to make the hips appear a bit wider from my experience, especially since these have a higher rise (8 inch rise).  But since I mainly wear longer tops, I don’t mind.  The rear have flap pockets with a snap closure.  The outer thighs have flat patch pockets that have zipper closures, so they’re a lot less bulky than the usual flap cargo pockets.  And given that they’re elongated in shape, they also give the illusion of longer thighs and legs which I can always appreciate.

The color name is Washed Black.  It’s a faded black color, so it’s not quite black, and it’s not quite grey.  The material is made of 70% cotton, 14% polyester, and 2% elastane.  The material feels like a light weight twill cotton.  The inseam is 30 inches.  The leg opening is 8 ½ inches with a 6 ¾ inch outer zipper.  I’d say these run pretty true to size.  They do stretch slightly with some wear as most Current/Elliott jeans do, so take that into consideration when ordering your size.

I wore these with one of my favorite ANINE BING Boots with Studs.

Washing instructions are: Turn inside out, machine wash cold, do not bleach, tumble dry low heat, Iron low heat.

H by Hudson Rosse Boots in Bordo

Posted on February 3, 2014

Our mission here at StylePosts is to provide honest advice and detailed information on the most current high-end apparel.  While we developed a following of dear readers with our denim reviews, we are hoping to continue providing you with just as informative reviews on other apparel as well.  Today’s review is on our first pair of shoes…H by Hudson Rosse Boots.

I can never own enough pairs of booties.  They can be worn during any season.  They pair well with trousers or jeans and also go great with bare legged shorts or skirts.  They’re stylish, go with just about anything, and they’re comfortable and easy to wear.  And given my current lifestyle, shoes that are easy and comfortable are a definite must.  These boots in particular are all of those things and more.  The style is a short boot that hits just above the ankle bone.  There’s an inner side zipper closure for an easier pull on effect.  The back has a double strap embroidered detail in patent leather.

The color name is Bordo, which I would describe exactly as its name.  It’s a Bordeaux/burgundy wine-like color with intentional distress throughout the front and back heel.  The distress varies from boot to boot, so no two pairs are exactly the same.  These boots are made of nubuck suede with a leather inner lining and man-made sole.  To be honest, these are like my fifth or sixth pair of burgundy colored boots that I’ve owned because I just love the color.  To me, burgundy is about as go-to as white and black, yet it’s a nice understated dose of color.

I took these in my normal size, and they feel great.  They run true to size.  They’re 5 ½ inches tall from bottom of sole to top of opening.  The foot opening is 11 inches around when zipped up.  The brown wooden heel measures 1 ¾ inches, which makes these an easy everyday wearing boot.

H by Hudson makes great quality shoes.  Their women’s styles have an androgynous appeal about them.  The price points are definitely more appealing than many other European designers that make similar style boots.

I wore these boots with my Diesel Livier jeans  which we reviewed here.
