J Brand Earhart Flight Pants in Vintage Pendleton

Because I’m such a fan of J Brand jeans, I wanted to try some of their other pants that are in style this season. These are their Earhart pants, which is a cropped chino flight pant. These have a much more relaxed fit, making them very very comfortable to wear. They have a very clean and classic look to them.

These are cropped with a 24 inch inseam. Although the leg opening measurement is 11 inches, there’s an elastic opening allowing a lot more room in the leg opening. The bottom has a 1 ½ inch elastic hem which adds a lot of character to these pants. There’s also an 8 1/2 inch side zipper on the outer leg. I’m not crazy about the look of the silver zipper, but it’s a minor detail that can be overlooked.

The color is called Vintage Pendleton. It’s a dark army olive green shade. It has a brown hue to it as well, but it’s definetely more on the green side. The material is also very comfortable, and I’d imagine will get even softer and more comfortable with wear. Made of 98% cotton and 2% lycra, these have a decent amount of stretch to them. And the material is lightweight, which will be nice for the summer. These run on the larger side. I’d say they run about a size large. But they’re meant to be a relaxed fit, so you probably don’t want to go down more than one size. The rise is 8 1/2 inches with a 13 inch back rise. Although the rise is a little higher, these aren’t considered high rise because they’re meant to sit more relaxed along the hips. The rear has slit flap button pockets. A downside to these pants is that rear slit pockets combined with the relaxed fit doesn’t make these the most complementing to the rear.

These are machine washable in cold water, tumble dry low. With my experience with some of J Brand’s colored pants, the material tends to fade with wash. So be sure to wash with a gentle detergent.  The beauty of these pants is that they can be worn very casual or very dressed up. The bottom hem can be worn either hanging loose on the leg or scrunched up. I personally prefer them hanging loose on myself. I have a feeling this will not be the last of flight pants. I anticipate seeing a lot more flight pant styles in the coming year.

These J Brand Earhart pants have been seen on Francesca Sanford.
