So my quest continues for the perfect colored jeans. Today is all about Current/Elliott’s Ankle Skinny jeans in Dahlia wash. There are so many things about these jeans that I love. I’ll begin with the fit. True to Current/Elliott’s form, these jeans are as comfortable as ever. Made of 98 % cotton and 2% elastin, there is a lot of stretch to these jeans. Because of the amount of stretch, these run a bit large, which is also pretty typical of most Current Elliott jeans. I’d say these run about one full size large from most other designer standard sizes. These jeans stretch quite a bit with wear. So although they might be snug initially, keep in mind that they will stretch out as you wear them.
The cut on these jeans is also really flattering. It’s a lower rise with a 7 inch rise measurement. Back rise is 12 inches. I love the rear pockets on Current/Elliott’s jeans. They have a larger pocket, which typically isn’t a good thing for those with smaller rears. But because of the lower pocket placement, it’s actually pretty flattering. The inseam is 30 inches, which works perfectly for me without having to get them altered—always a plus for me! They’re meant to be slightly cropped, hence the name “Ankle Skinny.” But they actually fall just below the ankle for me, which is still fine by me. The length on these is perfect for the way I like to wear my skinnies…with just a slight crinkle at the hem. These are a skinny fit, but because of the material, they do stretch out quite a bit with wear. So they don’t turn out to be super skinny tight like many other skinnies out there now. The leg opening is 10 inches.
One of the unique things that Current Elliott offers in their jeans is on their large inside tag. It provides information about the jeans and its inspiration. These jeans are defined as, “A true eighties skinny jean that hugs every curve.”
The color name is Dahlia. The color reminds me more of a fuschia tint. I was actually hoping they’d turn out to be a bit more on the purple side, but I’d say they are more of a fuschia with a hint of purple. The color is very bold, which fits right in with the color trend this season. I’m hoping the color will remain as bright after a few washes, which is always something to consider when caring for colored denim. The wash instructions are: machine wash cold, tumble dry low heat. I would definitely consider washing these inside out to maintain the color.
