This is my first pair of Topshop denim, and now I know why celebrities like Kate Moss and Alexa Chung are seen wearing them so often. I am in LOVE with these jeans.
Since it’s my first time wearing Topshop denim, I wasn’t very familiar with their sizing. I highly recommend reading their sizing information carefully because the fit is quite different from US sizing. (If you aren’t familiar with Topshop, they are a retail clothing company based in the UK.) These jeans are sized by waist, but I don’t recommend wearing your normal US waist size. The size I purchased is two waist sizes larger than my normal size. This is why I recommend reading their size chart carefully. It gives you a breakdown of waist size and what US dress size it’s equivalent to (i.e, size 2, 4, 6, etc.). I must emphasize that these run quite small, about two sizes small, compared to most US denim designers.
That all being said, once you choose your correct size, these jeans are fabulous! I love the fit of these jeans. They’re a very skinny fit along the entire leg, so keep that in mind if you don’t like your jeans very tight. These are meant to be very tight and fitted, which is why their name is very fitting…the Ultimate Skinny. However, there’s a lot of stretch to the material, made of 98% cotton and 2% elastane.
The wash is called Pink. I’d describe the color more like a faded red. Red colored jeans are really popular right now. I’ve seen them on a several celebrities this season and last, and I think they look amazing. But if you’re not comfortable pulling off deep blood red for your jeans (like me!), then this color is a great alternative. It’s a much more muted and faded red, so it’s not as bold if you’re not into loud colors.
The inseam on these is 30 inches. I love that Topshop gives you different inseam options (30, 32, and 34 inches). This alleviates having to get them altered for most women, which is always a plus. The leg opening is 10 inches. The rise is 9 inches.
The back pockets are probably my least favorite aspect to these jeans. There’s a curve to the pocket shape, which I suppose adds some dimension. But I don’t love the positioning of the pockets. They’re set fairly wide apart. I usually like pockets that are set lower and give more of a butt-lifting illusion. But being that these jeans are so fabulous in every other way such as their fit, color, and comfort, I’m willing to overlook the rear pockets and just wear a longer top to cover it. 🙂
Washing instructions are: wash in cold, do not rub isolated stains, hang dry.
And so my colored denim obsession continues…
These jeans were seen on Alexa Chung, and she looked amazing in them!!
