In light of the warm weather lately where I am, I decided to pull out some of my favorite pairs of shorts. These are AG Adriano Goldschmied’s Frayed Shorts in 12 Years. One of the things I love most about AG jeans is their genuine looking vintage appeal. They have a very particular type of laundered technique that allows their denim to look as though they’ve been worn for years, hence the name of their washes.
One of the things that I love most about these shorts is the cut. They’re not super short shorts, which is one of the things that attracted me to these shorts. I’m not a huge fan of long shorts either, as they make my legs look shorter. So the length on these shorts is a great compromise. The inseam is 4 inches, with the shorts being 13 inches total in length. The rise is 7 ½ inches. The leg opening is 20 inches with frayed hems. (Measurements may vary slightly with different sizes). The outer legs have a 1 ½ inch slit on each side.
These are made of 98% cotton and 2% Pu. They don’t have a whole lot of stretch to them, but there is some. They don’t stretch out much with wear over time. So when you first try these on, that’s pretty much how they’ll feel even after wear over time. These run about a size small, so I suggest going up in size.
The wash is called 12 years, which is a dark blue denim with whiskering along the front and fading on the rear. They have a very genuine looking vintage fade to the color. They’re also slightly destroyed along the waistband and front left leg. The destroyed areas don’t get more destroyed after washes, so don’t about the holes getting larger or fraying more over time.
The rear has AG’s signature swirl design, and the pocket placement allows for a very flattering look to the rear. The front left leg has a small dark blue patch. I love this little detail. It allows for a more vintage look to the shorts.
Washing instructions are: turn inside out, machine wash cold, non-chlorine bleach only, tumble dry low.
