I admit that I tend to favor brands such as Current/Elliott, J Brand, and Frankie B, one of the reasons being that their jeans are comfortable enough to lounge around in all day. So if you’re partial to comfortable jeans, then you will absolutely love the feel of these shorts. These are Citizens of Humanity Gibson Loose Fit Shorts.
I’ve mentioned in previous posts that I prefer a more relaxed fit to my shorts. Well, these are exactly what I like in terms of fit when it comes to shorts. These are very loose fitting with a slouchy fit. In fact, I’d say they run about a full size large. Made of 100% pima cotton, the material is so soft. They feel like they’ve been worn in for years, giving them a really soft denim feel.
The rise is 9 inches with an 18 ½ inch leg opening. These have a frayed hem which are meant to be rolled up. The one complaint I have about these shorts is the length. The inseam is 11 inches when uncuffed. I cuffed mine twice, giving them an 8 inch inseam. I think these are a little too long. If they were a few inches shorter, they’d be perfect for me. I’m not too fond of longer shorts, as I feel like they make my legs look shorter (never a good thing for me!).
The wash name is Lasso, which is a dark blue color with fading throughout and whiskering along the front. I love the wash on these. I’m partial to darker washes, and the fade on these gives them the perfect vintage look.
These are a 5 pocket classic style with a button fly. The belt loops are thin (about ¼ inch thick). The rear right side waist band has a brown leather “C of H” patch. The inner side panels have a red stitch, which you can see when you roll them up. I love minor little details like this that sets jeans apart from others. The rear pockets are plain with no designs. Because of the ultra loose fit, the look of the rear is a bit sacrificed. Nothing a long top or tunic can’t hide. 🙂
Washing instructions are: wash in cold, tumble dry low, use medium iron.
