There’s no other way to start this post other than coming right out and saying it. I love these jeans!!  I am a big fan of bohemian type styles, and these jeans definitely fit the category.  They have a real 70s bohemian feel to the style, and I love it.  These are Citizens of Humanity Riviera Patchwork Jeans.

My favorite part of these jeans is the patchwork details.  The front thighs have mismatched colored denim patches.  The front and rear pockets are all patch pockets placed along a high waist (rise is 9 ½  inches).  The style of these jeans reminds me a bit of J Brand Bette Wide Leg Jean (in Wonderama Wash), which we did a review on in the past (see review HERE).

The bottom has a raw frayed hem, which adds to the bohemian feel of the jeans.  I love every bit of detail to these jeans.  They’re fitted throughout the thighs until they break 12 inches down the inseam  at the knee into a wide 23 ¼ inch leg opening.  Made of 98% cotton and 2% polyurethane, there is some stretch to these, but I’d say they run true to size.  They do, however, stretch out some with a little wear.  The denim is very soft and comfortable, which has been my experience with just about every pair of Citizens of Humanity jeans I’ve owned.

These run very long with a 35 inch inseam, which I had to have professionally hemmed.  So unless you’re blessed with gorgeous long legs, expect to have these altered before wearing them out.  The wash is called Pioneer which is a medium to dark wash with different shades of blue along the patches.  There’s fading throughout with whiskering along the front and behind the knees.

Washing instructions are:  Machine wash cold, tumble dry low, do not bleach, iron medium if necessary.

Silly question. How did you hem them and keep the raw edge? My alterations guy says he can’t do this. The jeans look gorgeous on you.

Hi Debbie. It’s not a silly question at all. My tailor also questioned whether or not I’d like the look of it after they’re altered. he basically did what he always does when I get an original hem alteration. However, if you look closely, there’s a crease where the jeans were cut. But these were so long on me, the other option was to either return the jeans (that was not an option for me!) or have him fold the hem back up, doing a regular original hem–that would mean you’d lose the frayed hem look. I really liked the look of the frayed hem, so I had him just alter them with a crease showing. If you don’t mind the crease, then feel free to show your tailor the picture of my hem. I’m sure he’ll know what to do if he sees the photo.
