It’s almost officially shorts season, so it’s time for us to start sharing our favorite summer denim. These are Jen’s Pirate Booty Guipil Rodeo Cut Off Chapp Shorts.
What drew me to these shorts was the colorful embroidered woven patches. There is such a fun, bohemian look to these shorts which I love. The pattern aligns the front area and also the upper rear just below the waistband. The patterned colors vary from shorts to shorts because they are all made from different fabrics. This can be a good thing and a bad thing. This makes each pair of shorts truly one of a kind, which is a great thing. But it’s not a guarantee that you will necessarily like the pattern you receive when ordering these shorts. But each pair will have vibrant colors, as the designer herself hand picks each of the fabrics.
The color is called Denim Blue which is a medium to dark blue wash that has only slight fading. There is also some distress along the rear pockets, while the hem is frayed. These are a 5 pocket style with a zipper fly. The style of these shorts remind me Siwy Jeans Alex Cut Off Shorts in Love Song (see our review here) which is one of my favorite pairs of shorts of all time.
The rise is 8 ¼ inches with a 23 inch leg opening. The inseam is 2 inches. The entire length of the shorts is 12 inches. (Keep in mind, measurements may vary slightly with different sizes.) Made of 97% cotton and 3% spandex, these shorts are very comfortable and have a decent amount of stretch to them. And they do stretch out a bit. So although they feel snug initially, they will definitely stretch out after minimal wear. I’d say these run true to size. If you like to wear your shorts more fitted, then take your normal size. But if you prefer your shorts to fit more relaxed like I do, then I’d suggest going up a size.
Washing instructions are: machine wash separate in cold water, gentle cycle, tumble dry low.
