An hour and a half outside of Bogota, is a private members only resort called Altos del Chicala.  It’s a world away from the concrete busy city.  Here the weather is warm and moist and reminds me of what a tropical paradise would be.  Everything around you is lush green and the trees all bear exotic fruit like pitayas and mangos.  It feels very natural and untouched. It’s one of the most beautiful places that I have been to yet.

My family and I recently went to this resort with friends and shortly after we arrived, we encountered a light rain.  It felt like a warm shower.  We let our kids play in it.   We enjoyed the beautiful pool and their daily buffets that included amazingly fresh fruit and fruit juices.  The meals itself were nothing short of amazing.   The resort offered all kinds of activities like spa treatments, tennis, horseback riding and much more.  As with all the places in Colombia, no place would be complete without nightly music and dancing.

One morning we decided to go horseback riding through the resort’s extensive property and enjoy the scenery.  One thing that people rarely talk about in beautiful places like this is that when you are in a tropical, warm area there are bound to be mosquitoes and other little biting bugs.  So after I dressed my kids in long pants for the ride, I realized that I did not pack any long pants for myself.  What to do, what to do…my husband offered me his jeans.   I slipped on his jeans and had them fall to my ankles immediately.  I grabbed a scarf that I brought with me and cinched the waist to hold them up.  There was so much bulk that it wasn’t all that attractive, but it had to do.  Then I cuffed the hem a few times and I was ready to go.  It actually didn’t look so bad and it was very comfortable.  I threw on a top that concealed the bulk around my waist and topped things off with a hat.   I was comfortable; I was covered and ready for our ride.  The kids loved the horses and we ALL loved the ride and the view around one of the most beautiful places I have seen yet.

I mention the above vacation because when I tried on the Current/Elliott The Boyfriend Jean in Super Loved Destroy wash, it immediately reminded me of my husband’s jeans on this trip.  In the past, when I have reviewed boyfriend jeans, the jeans were not as nearly as relaxed as these.   I have been living in these jeans recently and I can’t explain just how much I love the fit.  The fit is extremely relaxed without all the bulk at the waist of my husband’s jeans.  I love how it sits low on my waist.  I could have chosen to wear a size smaller than my usual because these run large.  Although I did like the look of the smaller size I preferred the really relaxed look for these jeans in my normal size.

The wash is light blue and slightly faded.  It has the vintage look and feel that Current/Elliott is well known for.  It is extremely comfortable.  I could sleep in these jeans!  Another thing that I love about these jeans is the distressing.  I love jeans with holes.  Don’t ask me why, I just do J I love the less than perfect look of holey jeans.  These jeans are manually cuffed so it allows you to uncuff them it you like, however I like the look of them cuffed.  Something that many people may not notice is that the reason why I buy designer when it comes to jeans is that if you look closely at the back pockets on these jeans, you’ll notice that the pockets are slightly elongated to created a longer backside as opposed to a wider backside which can happen with jeans this loose.  It’s these subtle details that make designer jeans, worth the price.  All the little details that goes into the design that help to compliment your body the way it is.

I absolutely love this jean.  It is my favorite this year.  My final comments about them are ‘wear it loose, wear it low, and slap a belt and be comfortable’. You can’t go wrong.  LOVE these!

This style was my very first C/E jeans that made me fall in love with the brand almost 2 years ago. I have the Loved Destroyed, Super Loved and Tatered Destroyed, all in boyfriend and the rest in skinny or slouchy skinny.
I wear nothing but C/E ever since.
Love those boyfriend jeans!!! Highly recommended.

You look great in them by the way!!
