These jeans take me back to a place four years ago when I was hearing about all this hype over a new denim brand called Current/Elliott. I remember precisely the day when I tried on my first pair of their boyfriend jeans and could not believe the comfort in them. This particular pair takes me right back to that day, where my awe for their style and comfort remains the same. These are Current/Elliott The Skinny Boy.
I’m particularly fond of cropped fitting jeans, especially since I don’t typically need to get them hemmed. This particular pair caught my attention because of the slimmer fit. And considering its name, the Skinny Boy, I figured they were meant to have a slimmer fit yet still relaxed somewhat like a boyfriend jean. In fact, this is precisely how I’d describe these jeans. I’ve always had rather lukewarm feelings about boyfriends jeans, particularly since I’ve always felt they ran way too large and weren’t super flattering on me. But this pair has the comfort from the relaxed fit yet they’re more flattering because of their slimmer cut. To cut to the chase, I love these jeans, and they have become one of my all time favorites.
They’re cropped in length with a 23 ½ inch inseam. They’re fitted all along the thighs and calves yet not too fitted as to consider them a skinny jean. They’re fairly relaxed and then slim down at 12 inches down the inseam into a 12 inch leg opening. The rise is 9 inches, which would normally be considered more of a higher rise. But since these sit more relaxed along the hips, they don’t feel like a high rise.
The color is called Brighton, which is a dark vintage wash that’s faded along thighs, knees, rear, and back legs with whiskering along the front and back legs. I love the wash on these jeans. They seem like your classic dark wash jeans, but the color is just perfect in my opinion. In fact, it’s the color that I love most about these jeans.
These are made of 98% cotton and 2% elastane. The material is so unbelievably soft. I cannot emphasize that enough. They feel as if they’d been worn in for many years. And they’re a light-weight denim, so I’ve been spending much of my summer in these. There are no holes or distress to these jeans other than the vintage fade. These do run a bit large, so I’d recommend going down a full size in these.
Washing instructions are: machine wash cold, do not bleach, tumble dry low, iron low heat.
