I happened to be browsing the racks of my local NORDSTROM. when I came across this pair of jeans. I love when a particular clothing item, jeans in particular, really stand out and catch my eye. That’s precisely what happened when I saw these. But, of course, my size was sold out. So I had to wait anxiously for my size to be restocked somewhere…anywhere! But the waiting paid off because I finally came across a pair. These are Current/Elliott Slouchy Stiletto jeans.
The Stiletto Jean is my favorite cut by Current/Elliott. So when they came out with this pair, I was curious to see how they’d fit. I’ve been into looser fitting jeans lately, but I’m kind of particular about boyfriend jeans. For me, they have to fit just right, otherwise they look unflattering if too loose. But a “slouchy stiletto” sounded like it’d be just perfect, being that the Stiletto jean typically has a tight fit. Well, it turns out, these really are a perfect boyfriend-like jean. They’re not body hugging like your classic Stiletto jean. They have a more relaxed fit, but they’re not super loose along the thighs. In fact, the fit on these reminds me a lot of my Diesel Getlegg Jeans (see review), which is one of my favorite pairs of jeans of all time.
The wash is called Old Glory, which is a light blue wash with distress throughout the front thighs and knees. I don’t particularly mind distress, especially since it can really add a lot of character to the jeans. But one thing about distress I’m not crazy about is when the holes begin to fray and tear more with wear. But the distressed holes on these jeans have reinforcement underneath, so there’s no concern for the holes getting larger. Underneath the distress is darker blue denim serving as patches, which again add so much character to these jeans.
The inseam is 28 inches, allowing these to have a cropped fit. I decided to roll mine up for a more relaxed look. The rise is 9 ½ inches, but they sit lower along the hips so they don’t feel like a high rise jean. Made of 90% cotton, 6% polyester, 4% elastane, there’s not a lot of elasticity to these jeans. In fact, the leg opening which is 10 ½ inches feels kind of snug because of the stiffness of the material. But since they’re not skinny jeans, there isn’t really a need for that elasticity. Because of the looser fit on these jeans, I’d say they around about a full size large. I’d suggest going down a size in these.
Washing instructions are: Machine wash cold, do not bleach, tumble dry low heat, iron low heat.
These have been seen on Jennifer Lawrence.
