There is something ironic to me about the idea of pinstripes and denim. When I think of pinstripes, I think of conservative and elegant. Denim isn’t something I’d necessarily consider conservative, hence the irony. But putting the two together, you get these J Brand 811 Skinny Jeans.
The great thing about vertical stripes is that they can, in fact, make you look thinner and longer; a combination any woman loves to hear about in her jeans. The wash is called Belmont, which is an indigo wash with mini vertical stripes with a gently worn appearance. There’s something effortless and chic that I love about these jeans. They’re not your typical blue jean because of the color and stripes. Yet the stripes are a neutral grey and subtle enough to pull off from day to evening. The wash on these reminds me of J Brand’s Cass jeans in Vintage Stripe (read our review here) but in a darker shade.
The comfort on these jeans is as comfortable as most J Brand stretchy jeans are. Made of a 9-ounce super stretch denim, there’s a lot of elasticity to the material. Made of 81% cotton, 17% polyester, and 2% elastane, I’d say these run true to size. Initially, they’ll appear really small because of the elasticity. But they will, in fact, stretch, and conform to your body. They cling to the leg, and are very fitted all along the rear, thighs, and calves. These are truly a skinny jean with a fit like that of leggings. The leg opening is 9 ½ inches.
These are a 5 pocket classic style jean. The rear pockets are plain with no embellishments, but are positioned in a way to give a lift to the rear; something J Brand has really mastered with their jeans. The rise is more of a mid rise with an 8 inch measurement. The inseam is 29 inches. (Keep in mind that measurements may vary slightly with different sizes).
The washing instructions are: Wash inside out in cold with like colors, do not bleach, tumble dry low, remove promptly, do not iron.
